Pet First Aid Training

Pet First Aid Training

Welcome to The Pet Partnership – Pet First Aid Training – we have all heard of First Aid Training for humans but what about our furry friends? We run a comprehensive Pet First Aid course which, should your pet get sick or injured, will give you the knowledge and skills to help whilst you seek veterinary advice.

Who is the Course Designed For?

For pet owners – our pets give us so much unconditional love and we would do anything for them, so it’s distressing when they have an accident, get injured or fall ill. It’s such a reassuring feeling to know that, should something happen, you have the skills and confidence to deal with these situations and get them the help they need. This course covers a comprehensive range of areas to help you do just that.

For pet professionals – it’s a pleasure and an honour to work around pets but it comes with the responsibility of keeping them safe and knowing what to do in the event of illness, accident or injury.  This is a ‘hands on’ course, rather than online, where you get the opportunity to practise the skills you may need in your day to day role. This is a great course for dog trainer/behaviourists, dog groomers, dog walkers, pet sitters, pet taxis, pet ambulances, pet shop workers, pet related charity professionals or if you work with or around pets.

For everyone attending, on successful completion of the course, you will receive a Certified CPD Statement as well as a Certificate and gain access to email videos to keep your knowledge up-to-date.

Course Content

This comprehensive 5-hour course covers a whole range of areas; we start by looking at Vets and the role you play in First Aid, keeping safe, protecting your home, how pets show pain and checking your pet’s health. We also cover CPR, accidents, drowning, shock, broken bones, spinal injuries, and other serious injuries. We look at medical conditions and cover things such as serious bleeding, dressings, paws, ears, mouth, tails, illnesses, poisoning, stings, bites, seizures, choking, snake bites, ticks, flystrike, and other conditions. We also look at Pet First Aid Kits.

Our 5-hour course is £48 per person. Discounts may be available for businesses.

Advanced Pet First Aid Level 3 (VTQ)

This Advanced course covers everything in the Pet First Aid Course and much more detail about the different injuries and illnesses that can affect dogs and cats. The course has been designed to give you more information to enable early detection when something is wrong and give the appropriate care.

The course also covers anatomy and physiology of animals and different first aid treatments that are available. Although the treatment is basically the same between dogs and cats, the advanced course has a dedicated section to cats.

Who is the Course Designed For?

For pet owners or pet professionals who want to have a greater understanding and level of knowledge. Whilst not a requirement, for anyone who has completed the Pet First Aid course, this is a natural progression to the Advanced course.

Choice of Training

The Advanced Pet First Aid can be completed as an online or blended course;

Online – With this, you work through the online course with almost 6 hours of training videos but there is no practical module. We recommend that you complete our 1-day practical module. With the online only course, you will receive a certificate that says Advanced Pet First Aid and it will not include the Level 3 VTQ qualification.

Blended – As a blended course, you complete the online modules of almost 6 hours of training videos for the theory, and then complete a 1-day practical module – you will gain the full Level 3 VTQ qualification certificate.

The online course, together with the 1-day practical course is only £140. Discounts may be available for businesses.

Security Dog First Aid Course

For Security Companies, the Police, and Prisons – we run a Security Dog First Aid course which is approved by NASDU (National Association of Security Dog Users) for the requirement of pet first aid standards. The nature of working with dogs will pose a risk they may be harmed during their work or transport. Our course is designed to meet the NASDU learning outcomes and we’ve added a few extra modules to ensure full understanding.

Our 5-hour course is £48 per person. Discounts may be available for businesses.
